"ultimately, we're trying to protect consumers from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards, due to voltage supply differences et cetera; is not - in PS3's case - backwards compatible with either PS1 or PS2 software; will not play European Blu-Ray movies or DVDs; and will not be covered by warranty".
Now when a customer purchases an import game, Lik-Sang assumes that the consumer know what he or she is purchasing. For example, I imported from Europe a Black DS lite from Lik-Sang earlier in the summer, the charger is only compatible with European standard voltage, but knowing my DS, the female and male ports will be all the same size. So I just went to Nintendo's site, and purchased a charger standard in the Americas for 7$ and now it is all good.
I don't think my fellow gamers are that ignorant to not know what works and what doesn't on their consoles and handhelds. But when an everyday Joe decides to buy an import, that person does research. Before you make an investment, look into it.
